A Crown of Thorns

Year 4 Production 'A Crown of Thorns'

A Crown of Thorns

On Wednesday 5th April the children of year 4 hit the boards in their fantastic Easter performance, ‘A Crown of Thorns’. For many this was their first performance at Oakdale and what a show they put on!

With a tight rehearsal schedule of just 5 weeks the children experienced script-reading and auditioning, all aspects of stagecraft, acting, movement, singing and choreography. It was a fast paced learning curve for most and their feet didn’t touch the ground until the big day of their show.

They impressed parents and grandparents alike as they showed off their biblical characters and their beautiful voices. The costumes really brought the story to life along with the vibrant cross and Garden of Gethsemane set. The crucifixion scene packed an emotional punch whilst the tomb scene  led us on a path to rejoice as we were all uplifted with the finale, ‘Sing Unto The Lord’.

‘I thought the performance was absolutely great. Costumes were superb.’ Parent

‘Have seen lots of performances at Oakdale but this is one of the best.’ Grand parent

‘The play was marvellous. It was clear that a huge amount of effort from both parents and children was put into the performance. The children were all engaged and clearly enjoying themselves. Well done to all involved!’

‘Very entertaining, very upbeat. Extremely well done. Very confident children.’

‘That was wonderful! Enjoyed every minute and it was clear the children did too. They all performed so confidently, well done!’

‘Really good. The children’s confidence is amazing. Very proud parent.’
