Oakdale Celebrate Partnership with Lighthouse

Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts, launched its ground-breaking new Schools Partnership programme on Thursday 6th April. Oakdale Junior School was one of eight local schools that were selected as official partners, which will see them becoming champions for the arts within their local communities. Competition for a partnership was tough as lots of schools applied but the Lighthouse were swayed by our commitment to the arts and our children. Students will attend live performances at Lighthouse and as the programme develops further, have the opportunity to meet actors, see behind the scenes, attend and receive workshops as well as exhibit the children’s work. Artistic Producer for Lighthouse, Stephen Wrentmore said, “We have wanted to develop a closer relationship with a selected body of schools for some time now, we want to inspire and connect them to all the extraordinary work Lighthouse has to offer and learn from them what they want to see and how we can communicate with them more effectively.” The next time you’re at Lighthouse keep your eyes peeled for the Oakdale Junior School plaque just by the ticket office!
